OKC Strong Neighborhoods Initiative

The City of Oklahoma City’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI) works to improve neighborhoods through physical, social and economic investments that will tip neighborhoods toward vitality and self-sufficiency. SNI is funded by the City of Oklahoma City and with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Following a competitive selection process, two new SNI neighborhoods were approved by City Council in December of 2017: Capitol Hill and Capitol View. Culbertson’s East Highland was approved to being extended two more years. In June of 2020, SNI work will end in Culbertson’s East Highland and City Council approved the addition of Metro Park beginning July 2020. Staff is working with neighborhood residents, local stakeholders and city departments to develop and implement revitalization strategies for all three neighborhoods.
